The Sword and the Ploughshare by John Young

Another B-24 Liberator roars off the end of the runway and out over the peaceful English countryside. A mission to Regensburg? A local training flight? John Young hasn't told us which, but he masterfully depicts the B-24 and those beautiful English fields that were home for so many Americans. This B-24J is from the 409th Bomb Squadron of the 93rd Bomb Group, Eighth Air Force. The absence of nose art indicates recent arrival in the U.K. and permanent crew assignment likely has not yet been made.
