David Poole was born in High Point, North Carolina and studied fine arts at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond and at Concoran School of Art in Washington, D.C. While living in Richmond he worked as a freelance illustrator for 6 years, all the while continuing his interest in the painting of aviation art.
David has been producing original commissions and fine art prints since 1985. He is a member of the American Society of Aviation Artists and in June 1993 was awarded third place in the unjuried exhibit at the ASAA Forum in Hampton, Virginia. Poole has completed commissions for the Virginia Air National Guard, Aerospace Historian, Oregon Air National Guard, Southern Carolina Air Guard, Friends of St. Luke's Hospital and the Martin Marietta Corporation. He also produced seven oil paintings for British Aerospace's Washington offices and recently completed 13 paintings for the Video Cassette Series for the Discovery Channel and Smithsonian Institution's, NASM "Frontiers of Flight".
David lives with his wife and family in Roanoke, Virginia.
