Winter War Wolves features the FW-190, A-8's of SG-2 operating out of Hungary during the winter of 1944/45. This unit flew counter air missions against Red Air Force fighter aircraft. The squadron also flew ground attack and bombing missions against the Russian troops who were making their way toward the German border from the East. The airplanes have their lower landing gear covers removed to make the airplanes easier to operate in the snow and mud of the winter conditions. The Focke Wulf was perhaps the most fearsome and successful fighter aircraft ever fielded by the Luftwaffe during WWII.
