Günther Rall, considered by many to be the finest of the Luftwaffe's pilots, met the equally respected pilots of 'Hub' Zemke's Wolfpack over Germany in May, 1944. After downing two P-47s and nearly downing Zemke, Rall soon found himself outnumbered, and would narrowly cheat death on this fateful day.
