The photo “Star Wars on Earth” was taken by famed F-14 Tomcat Pilot C.J. “Heater” Heatley III. According to Hollywood producer Jerry Bruckheimer, when he happened upon this photo in a magazine article in his dentist office, he exclaimed to his business partner Don Simpson, "This looks like Star Wars on Earth, this is our next movie!" This "next movie" turned out to be the wildly successful "Top Gun" starring Tom Cruise.

The photo was also the cover of Heatley’s celebrated book, “The Cutting Edge,” selling over 500,000 copies.
