Renowned display pilot Ray Hanna flies his Spitfire Mk.IX along Goodwood’s historic pit straight below the level of the Grandstands during the Goodwood Revival meeting 7-9 September 1998.
At the first ever Goodwood Revival, with crowds expecting an overhead pass, Hanna instead flew his Spitfire at full throttle along the deck past the start/finish line in what has become perhaps the most memorable moments in the history of the festival.
Award-winning artist Keith Burns has brilliantly captured the speed and power of the scene with this stunning original acrylic on canvas which he in fact began painting while at Goodwood in early 2022.
