The Unlimiteds, one of John Shaw's earliest aviation paintings (1993), has become one of the most popular pieces of Reno Air Racing art ever created. Originally commissioned to commemorate the opening of Reno's National Museum of Air Racing in the early '90s, this painting depicts a vintage neck & neck scene between two of Reno's greatest all-time competitors, Rare Bear and Strega, made famous by pilots Lyle Shelton and Bill "Tiger" DeStefani, respectively.
Both the smaller lithograph and poster versions of The Unlimiteds sold out several years ago and now by popular demand, a small run of only 75 large canvases are being produced. Approximately the size of the original painting, this canvas giclée measures slightly larger than 2.5 feet by 3 feet! Each is numbered and hand-highlighted in oils by the artist. This high-demand piece is going to go quickly!
