The little boy at the end of the pier is symbolic of the youth that lives on in many adults. He wants to stay and take one final shot at catching the trophy trout that waits somewhere in the lake.

But the focal point of the image is the aircraft: in this case, a deHavilland Beaver which is used extensively in bush flying. Bush pilots are a breed apart. They are fearless, independent, free spirits who love both flying and the wilderness, boys at heart. Put those qualities together and you get a really good bush pilot.
